GoHighLevel is a great CRM. LeadConnector — the built-in SMS provider — is not a great deal. At $0.0158 per outbound SMS segment, LeadConnector charges roughly double what you would pay on Twilio ($0.0079) and nearly double ReadySMS Starter pricing ($0.0084). For agencies and businesses sending thousands of texts per month through GHL, that markup adds up fast.

ReadySMS is a native GoHighLevel SMS integration that replaces LeadConnector for SMS delivery. Same workflows, same automations, same conversations view — 47% to 82% lower cost per message depending on your volume tier.

LeadConnector Pricing Breakdown

LeadConnector charges a flat rate with no volume discounts:

There are no volume discounts. Whether you send 1,000 or 1,000,000 messages per month, you pay $0.0158 per segment. LeadConnector uses Twilio as its underlying carrier and marks up the price — Twilio charges $0.0079/segment, and LeadConnector charges $0.0158. That is a 100% markup.

ReadySMS vs. LeadConnector at Every Volume

Here is the side-by-side comparison at different monthly volumes. All prices include the $0.0045 carrier surcharge:

Monthly Volume LeadConnector ReadySMS Monthly Savings Annual Savings
5,000 messages $101.50 $64.50 (Starter) $37.00 $444
10,000 messages $203.00 $129.00 (Starter) $74.00 $888
25,000 messages $507.50 $297.50 (Growth) $210.00 $2,520
50,000 messages $1,015.00 $595.00 (Growth) $420.00 $5,040
100,000 messages $2,030.00 $1,090.00 (Professional) $940.00 $11,280
200,000 messages $4,060.00 $1,460.00 (Enterprise) $2,600.00 $31,200

At 50,000 messages/month, switching to ReadySMS saves $5,040/year. At 200,000 messages/month, you save $31,200/year. The savings scale linearly because LeadConnector never offers volume discounts.

How the GHL Integration Works

ReadySMS connects to GoHighLevel through the GHL marketplace. The integration works at the SMS delivery layer — when GHL needs to send a text message (from a workflow, automation, or manual send), ReadySMS handles the delivery instead of LeadConnector.

The technical flow:

  1. GHL triggers an SMS send (workflow step, automation, bulk action, or manual message)
  2. ReadySMS receives the send request via the integration
  3. ReadySMS delivers the message through its carrier network
  4. Delivery status is reported back to GHL
  5. Inbound replies appear in GHL conversations as normal

From the GHL user perspective, nothing changes in the interface. You still compose messages in GHL, still see conversations in the GHL inbox, and still build workflows the same way. The only difference is lower cost per message.

What Stays the Same

Switching SMS providers does not mean rebuilding your GHL setup. Here is what stays exactly the same:

Migration Process: 15 Minutes

Switching from LeadConnector to ReadySMS takes about 15 minutes of active work, plus 1 to 3 days for 10DLC approval:

  1. Sign up for ReadySMS at app.readysms.io/signup. Free, no credit card required. You get 2,500 message credits immediately.
  2. Install the ReadySMS integration from the GHL marketplace. Authorize the connection to your GHL account.
  3. Connect your sub-account(s). Select which GHL sub-accounts should use ReadySMS for SMS delivery.
  4. Register your 10DLC campaign. Brand registration costs $4 (one-time). Campaign registration costs $15 (one-time), or $25 for rush approval. ReadySMS walks you through the registration inside the dashboard.
  5. Start sending. Once your 10DLC campaign is approved (typically 1 to 3 business days), all SMS from your connected GHL sub-accounts routes through ReadySMS.

If you have existing phone numbers with LeadConnector, those numbers can be ported to ReadySMS. Porting typically takes 1 to 2 weeks and your numbers continue working during the transition.

Real Savings Examples

Here are three scenarios based on actual GHL user profiles:

Solo real estate agent — 8,000 messages/month

Marketing agency with 10 clients — 60,000 messages/month

Debt settlement firm — 150,000 messages/month

Every dollar saved on SMS is a dollar that goes toward lead generation, ad spend, or profit. Use the ReadySMS cost calculator to plug in your exact volume and see your savings. Or read our guide to reducing SMS costs for more strategies beyond switching providers.
